Introduction
Hong Kong Battery Recycling Centre (“HKBR”) is the only battery recycling plant in Hong Kong, located in the Tuen Mun EcoPark, deploying state-of-the-art technology in converting Waste Lead Acid Battery (“WLAB”) into reusable raw material in an eco-friendly manner, in full compliance with Basel Convention and Waste Disposal Ordinance 354 of Hong Kong.
By leveraging HKBR to recycle WLAB locally will produce nearly zero air pollution and recover 80% of WLAB in terms of weight, as it is a battery recycling centre certified to emit insignificant direct carbon dioxide issued by Ramboll, a leading global environmental consultancy.
During this visit, participants will learn what issue may cause exporting WLAB and how HKBR facilitates the circular economy of Lead-Acid Batteries (“LAB”).
