Organised by Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and co-organised by BEAM Society Limited (BSL), Skills Upgrading Series for Green Building Practitioners - Environmental Assessment and Environmental Monitoring & Audit for Green Building Projects (9 and 23 Sept 2023) is designed for persons who have not received formal training in environmental assessment and monitoring of construction projects. The two half-day lectures totalling 6 hours will cover the following topics:
1. Methodology for Environmental Assessment
- Methods for assessing direct impacts and indirect impacts
- Methods for air (excluding indoor air quality), noise (excluding indoor noise), and sewerage impacts, habitat mapping, and ranking based on conservation values, tree protection
2. Methodology for Environmental Monitoring & Audit (EM&A)
- Baseline monitoring and impact monitoring for air, water, and noise
- Ecological field surveys
- Regulatory and performance requirements (i.e. Limit and Action Levels)
- Mitigation and control measures
3. Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
- Objectives of EMP
- Environmental policy, and organisation
- Implementation of EMP
- Training
- Compliance with regulatory requirements
- Mitigation measures and controls
- Monitoring and review
4. Case Studies
- Selected case studies from construction projects
5. BEAM Plus
- Related credits in BEAM Plus NB v2.0 to be briefed by BSL staff
