EATURES

The key features of the Performance-based Approach are listed as

follows.

i.

the ‘Energy Budget’ for an ASSESSED PROJECT SPACE is

the predicted Annual Energy Use for a BASELINE INTERIOR

SPACE (zero-credit benchmark);

ii.

the BASELINE INTERIOR SPACE model has the same shape

and dimensions, comprises the same mix of areas and types

of accommodation as the ASSESSED PROJECT SPACE;

iii.

the BASELINE INTERIOR SPACE model will incorporate a

range of standard (default) characteristics such that the model

represents an area whose energy performance barely meets

the relevant regulatory requirements or meets only ‘basic’

design quality;

iv.

as far as possible the predicted Annual Energy Use of the

ASSESSED PROJECT SPACE will be based on its specific

design characteristics;

v.

the number of credits achievement is determined by the

percentage reduction in the predicted Annual Energy Use of

the ASSESSED PROJECT SPACE relative to the BASELINE

INTERIOR SPACE where HVAC&R and lighting are
