New BEAM Affiliate Education Programme is Now Available!

Stepping into the 10th Anniversary of BEAM Affiliate Education Programme, a new version incorporating hot topics such as ESG and global climate action trends has been launched by BEAM Society Limited (BSL) in Jun 2024. To enable engagement to the Greater Bay Area and support international candidates obtaining this professional qualification, the programme is designed with trilingual teaching materials in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. BEAM Plus Existing Buildings (EB) v3.0 (Beta 0) has been launched
In response to the market needs and diverse aspirations of the industry practitioners, BSL has embarked on transforming the EB assessment tool which specifically focuses on evaluation of the management, operation, maintenance, and environmental performance of existing buildings. The beta version of its v3.0 has been launched on 31 Jul 2024, aiming to offer a more practical and flexible assessment with simplification of submittals and enhancements to echo the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. BEAM Plus Existing Data Centres (EDC) v1.0 Chinese Versions are now available for download
In view of the increasing emphasis on sustainable development in the Greater Bay Area and to echo the Hong Kong Government policy initiatives in increasing collaboration with Mainland and Macao on various environmental issues, BSL has initiated the Chinese translation for BEAM Plus EDC v1.0 – the tool specifically designed to reduce the environmental impacts of the existing data centres whilst improving quality and user satisfaction by adoption of the best practices. E2 Forum China 2024

Organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, the E2 Forum China 2024 was successfully held in Shanghai, under the theme “Innovative Technology Enhances Elevator Modernization and Building Operation Management”. Dr Benny CHOW Ka Ming, Marketing Committee Member of BSL attended the forum and gave a keynote speech on “既有建筑绿色转型、电梯扶梯系统与绿建评估的互助力关系”, attracting over 80 industry practitioners who gave positive response to BEAM Plus and BSL’s work on driving sustainable development.
The Importance of Considering the Environmental, Radiological, Safety and Health Impact of Building at Different Stages of its Life Cycle

Dr Mamie LAU, Founder and Chairperson of RadHealth shared her expertise at the CPD seminar, focusing on the radiological aspect of impact assessments of buildings at different stages in its life cycle. Dr LAU has illustrated how to apply due consideration to different scales of the projects and building types throughout their life cycle with tools and provided real-life examples to highlight the importance of addressing these issues.
Visit to China Overseas Innovation & Technology (Zhuhai) Company in Zhuhai

The BSL’s delegation including the Chairperson Sr Frankie SO Hung Fai paid a visit to China Overseas Innovation & Technology (Zhuhai) Company (COIT) in Zhuhai. The group not only visited the digital pavilion and production lines of the COIT to learn about Multi-trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MiMEP) modules and latest trends in the Greater Bay Area, but also had an idea exchange on promoting the development of high-quality, smart green buildings and driving carbon neutrality for the GBA. 
Enhancing Safety and Efficiency: Integrating MiMEP and AI Safety Measures

At the CPD webinar well-attended by over 200 participants, Ir Antonio CHAN, Deputy Managing Director of REC Engineering Co., Ltd. shared his knowledge and experience in implementing MiMEP in a construction project for infrastructure project from the perspective of the E&M contractor. He also discussed how contractors can leverage AI technologies to enhance site safety by utilising advanced sensors, and video and image analytics.
RIBA Net Zero Heroes Forum

Hosted by RIBA's Hong Kong Chapter and co-hosted by Faculty of Architecture of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Net Zero Heroes Forum brought leaders from the construction industry together to discuss and consolidate actions to support Hong Kong’s net zero 2050 agenda. Ir CS HO, General Manager of BSL joined the event as the moderator at one of the panel discussions.
