The 1st Members Luncheon cum Experience Sharing Session To strengthen the mutual communication between members and BSL, the 1st Members Luncheon cum Experience Sharing Session came to a successful conclusion which brought together around 70 industry players and BSL’s members for networking on 4 Aug at Kerry Hotel. We are greatly honoured to have Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok, GBS, MH, JP, Member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR representing the Engineering Functional Constituency being the Guest of Honour to share his expertise and insights on the topic "The Outlook of Engineering Field and Challenges Ahead". Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) 2023 Under the theme “Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives”, MIECF 2023 organised by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China ended with great success on 17-20 Aug. BSL has once again participated in the event as the exhibitor to promote BEAM Plus assessment and green buildings to the visitors across professions and regions. We were also grateful to greet Miss TSE Siu Wa, Janice, JP, Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Environment), and Dr CHUI Ho Kwong, Samuel, JP, Director of Environmental Protection who paid a visit at our booth. BEAM Plus Existing Schools (ES) v1.0 Training and Examination Now Open for Registration The training and examination will include the syllabus of BEAM Plus ES v1.0 with credit points associated with major components. The ESG Consortium Forum: Sustainable Future for Business and The World 27 Jun 2023 Ir CS HO, General Manager of BSL shared his insights on the topic “More Sustainable World and Better Business: Future Business Models and Opportunities” with other guest speakers in the panel discussion at The ESG Consortium Forum, co-hosted by The ESG Consortium and the United Nations. Talk for "Certificate for Module (Interior Design Construction Management and Regulations)" 29 Jun 2023 Mr LI Ho Kin, Chairperson of BSL and Ms Caterina CHOI, Manager - Technical Services of BSL gave a sharing on “BEAM Plus Interiors and Sustainable Interior Construction” to the practitioners in the CPD Course, organised by Hong Kong Interior Design Association and HKU SPACE. Technical Visit to Hong Kong Battery Recycling Centre 30 Jun 2023 Over 30 BSL’s members and BEAM Practitioners paid a visit to Hong Kong Battery Recycling Centre (HKBR) situated in EcoPark, Tuen Mun. Apart from an introduction to the recyclers and green features of the Park, the participants were led to the HKBR to learn about Hong Kong’s waste disposal background and how the centre can help facilitate the circular economy of lead-acid batteries. Technical Visit to Nan Fung's "AIRSIDE" Project Site at Kai Tak 14 Jul 2023 Nearly 50 members of BSL and BEAM Practitioners joined the technical visit to AIRSIDE which have achieved various sustainable building certifications, including BEAM Plus Neighbourhood v1.0 Platinum Rating and BEAM Plus New Buildings v1.2 Provisional Platinum Rating. The BSL’s delegates got to know the sustainability vision of Nan Fung Group, the composition and project development of AIRSIDE from the presentation of the project team, as well as the green features adopted in the project during the guided tour. Future City International Summit 2023 - City Planning and Development 3 Aug 2023 Mr Alexander (Sandy) Main DUGGIE, Hon. Treasurer of BSL shared his insights with the professionals from different fields in the panel discussion of the Summit organised by World Green Organisation, The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Architecture and Million Home Charity Fund Limited. Meanwhile, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Mr LI Ho Kin, Chairperson of BSL as the bronze sponsor of the event. Measures to Reduce Site Emission - Construction Noise Management Plan by Environmental Protection Department (EPD) 30 Aug 2023 Mr Stephen CHONG and Mr Tommy CHENG from EPD delivered a sharing on the key features and benefits of the EPD’s new web-based platform - Web-CNMP which is designed to assist the project proponents in preparing Construction Noise Management Plan. Ir Emily WONG, Manager - Project Assessment of BSL also talked about the relevant update on the credit requirements of IDCM 7b under BEAM Plus New Buildings v2.0 at the webinar.
