BSL Supports Seminar and Guided Tours on Urban Agriculture: Planning, Implementation & Community Engagement

BSL is pleased to support the upcoming seminar and guided tours on Urban Agriculture: Planning, Implementation & Community Engagement (都市農業 — 規劃、執行及社區參與), organised in collaboration with leading partners including the Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong Institute of Architects.

Seminar Details

• Date: Saturday, 11 April 2026 (Saturday)
• Time: 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm
• Venue: YIA LT3, Yasumoto International Academic Park, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The seminar will feature insightful keynote speeches exploring urban agriculture from the perspectives of architecture and urban design, challenges and solutions for implementing urban farming in dense cities, and the development of community gardening in Hong Kong through urban-rural symbiosis.

Experienced practitioners will also share practical insights on community farm operations, rooftop farming, horticultural therapy, community-led gardening, and cross-sector partnerships that connect agriculture with social welfare.

Guided Tours Complementing the seminar are two hands-on guided tours:

• Community Farm Tour — Sunday, 12 April 2026 (9:00 am – 12:30 pm) Visiting sites including the Christian Family Service Centre – Urban Green, Tin Shui Wai Community Development Network, and related community farming initiatives.
• Campus Planting Tour — Saturday, 25 April 2026 (9:00 am – 12:30 pm) Exploring school-based farming projects at local primary, secondary, tertiary, and special education institutions.

These activities highlight how urban agriculture can be integrated into building and community design to promote environmental sustainability, social well-being, and greener living environments — themes that strongly align with BEAM Society’s mission to advance sustainable building assessment and green practices in Hong Kong.
